Friendship is one of the most important relationships of people in their daily lives. It’s certainly a blessing if you have a lot of friends in your life. People make friends because they want to interact with someone who has the same interests and share their experiences and feelings. Some people think it is more important to keep one’s old friends than it is to make new friends. However, in my opinion, I cannot agree with this view one hundred percent, I think making new friends is also important in my life. First of all, encountering a new environment is a big challenge for many people. They will face a lot of troubles when trying to adapt to this new circumstance. Making new friends is a way that helps people to deal with those problems. For example, when I was a freshman in university, I felt strange about everything on campus since the campus is much larger than my high school. At that time, I made some new friends in my classroom. We often do some interesting things like playing electric games, hiking and fishing. Thanks to my friends, I had an exciting first year in my university and I did not felt frustrated any more. Secondly, making new friends is a good chance to practice social skills. In modern society, no task can be done by a single person. More and more business require people who not only specialists in their fields, but also skilled in social interaction. Given the need for collaboration, social skills and team spirit are necessary qualities for any successful person. Through the process of making new friends, we could learn how to catch people’s attention, how to introduce yourself, how to start a conversation, how to be a good listener and how to pursue common interests. The social skills will be a foundation stone in our successful career life. Thirdly, even though you have a great deal of friends, it doesn’t mean you have good quality friends. The best friendships are the ones that nurture you and help you grow to be a more complete person. Perhaps you have not met those one or two key friends who â€Å"get† you and will help you to feel comfortable. Therefore, don’t be afraid to get out and meet new friends, because one of them might unexpectedly change your life for the better.

Is New York City’s Stop and Frisk law infringing upon Americans rights? In 2011, 685, 724 people were stopped and frisked by the police. This is a record high by more than 50,000 stops in New York City, 87% of the stops were either black or Latino, raising the question of is this morally ethical due to racial profiling (NYCLU, 2014). Why should an individual be stopped and frisked without probable cause? Stopping and frisking without probable cause is an act of racism, profiling someone due to their skin color is wrong, unethical, and creates an outlook that only, or mostly speaking people of color are our criminals of society. Black and Latino are not the sole criminals commiting just as many violent acts or same severity of crimes more than other people of society, so why should people of color be a higher concern than some not of color? If the laws of New York City say that any individual can be stopped and frisked, every person should be searched equally, instead of predominantly people of color. After all, every person of every race commits the same crime, and must be seen as an equal threat to society. For example, in The East Side of New York, police are heavily profiling. 50% of the population consists of blacks, and 39% percent being Hispanic. Only 8% of the residents over the age of 25 have a college degree (NYC, 2014). This has been a notorious area for police officers to stop and frisk. This is a prime example of a poor neighborhood being exploited to police abusing their power to stop and frisk being based upon the socio economic status of this specific neighborhood consisting of 89% colored individuals. â€Å"Today is the beginning of a long-overdue process: the reform of the NYPD to end illegal and racially discriminatory policing, said Vincent Warren, executive director of the Center for Constitutional Rights† (Fox News, 2014). There must be reform in order to ensure people are following the princples and morals being based upon in which The United States of America is formed. Not only are high ranking officials protecting the rights of people such as Vincent Warren, but the judges and prosectuors themselves who are prosecuting the people who are being arrested under the stop and frisk laws are in fact supporting the change of these laws. This is extremely vital to aknowledge due to the fact that the people who are being involved in the actual punishment of criminals are defending the rights of people, and specifically people of color as in the notorious East side of New York City. For example, â€Å"A judge ruled last year that the New York Police Department had discriminated against blacks and Hispanics when stopping, questioning and sometimes frisking people on the street. The judge ordered major reforms to the department’s implementation of the policy† (Fox News, 2014). With the support of the CCR (Center for Constitutional Rights) along with the encouragement of the Judges to amend the laws of stop and frisk is vital to the response that the stop and frisk laws must be taken more seriously to ensure that the princples upon which The United States of America is founded upon are being followed. I strongly believe the stop and  frisk laws are a complete infringement upon any single individuals constitutional rights. Politicians argue that the stop and frisk laws have been eliminating crimes off of the streets at a significant rate, but this does not excuse police force to profile and allow the judicial system to prosecute people who are being searched without probably cause. Probably cause clearly states, â€Å"sufficient reason based upon known facts to believe a crime has been committed or that certain property is connected with a crim e. Probable cause must exist for a law enforcement officer to make an arrest without a warrant, search without a warrant, or seize property in the belief the items were evidence of a crime†(Hill, 2014). Why should the laws obtaining to probable cause even exist if the law of stop and frisk is demonstrating the hypocritical aspect of probable cause? Probable cause completely cancels out when stop and frisk laws allow police officers to randomly search somebody when there is no clear evidence or reason for someone to be searched. Grief is a process that, while an incredibly unique process, is an inevitable stage for all those living a life surrounded by those they love, cherish and value. It can help to understand the management team to understand how consumers utilize energy and what types of products can be offered to them. There is no doubt that creative geniuses are the master mind behind favorite TV shows. However, the attribution of data analysis behind successful development of these TV shows cannot be denied. Many developers use big data to make sure that a show will hit or not. Sebastian Wernicke (A Munich-based data scientist) analyzed the importance of big data in developing a TV show. In a TED Talk film organized in TEDxCambridge (released on TED.com) Sebastian Wernicke explained this concept (Lazzaro 2017). He said that, in order to dominate television, tech savvy and technology driven companies have started to use big data. Netflix and Amazon can serve as the great example. Netflix used data apart to develop a concept of show while Amazon used data to develop an entire show. Wrink had developed a rating curve for 2,500 shows. This curve indicated that Breaking bad is at the high end (right) and Tiaras and Toddler on the other end. On the other hand, Amazons TV show Alpha House got average rating of 7.5 (Lazzaro 2017). These two tech savvy companies had connected millions of data points to develop these shows. It worked properly for one of them and did not work for another. Now, it is required to find out the reason behind this result. Amazon had decided to put together a data driven show. For this purpose, the company had organized a competition. They had evaluated a bunch of show ideas. Among these ideas, they selected eight of them (Lazzaro 2017). They developed eight pilot shows on these eight ideas and released them online. From that, they analyzed the data and created a show about four Republican U.S. senators and named it as Alpha House. On the other hand, Netflix had also come up with similar idea. Instead of organizing a competition, they analyzed the data they got from their viewers platform (viewing history and rating). Depending on the data, the company took a leap of faith and developed a show about single U.S. senator (Lazzaro 2017). The major reason the failure of Amazon is that the company used data all the way to develop the show. On the other hand, Netflix used data such as users preferences to develop a concept that they believed to become a hit (Lazzaro 2017). Sebastian Wernicke added by saying that there is also another tool that can make a hit show. That is the brain of an expert. According to him, the major reason behind the success of Netflix is that it used brain and data together in the process to develop a show. On the other hand, Amazon only relied on data to develop its show. The major problem with medicines is that most of them are focused on the body structure of people live in western world (InformationWeek 2017). Due to different genetic structure, proteome and body flora, most of these drugs do not work properly in people from other countries and minorities. On the other hand testing drugs on different groups can increase cost of production and time of development for a drug. However, Big Data and information technology (IT) can be used by medicine companies for drug trails. There are some major ways in which big data and IT can help medicine companies. They are discussed below: Precision Medicine Initiative Cohort Program The goal of this $130 million project is to study the ongoing health records of more than 1 million people (InformationWeek 2017). It will help to find out how individuals respond to different type of drugs. Their health history, lifestyle and environmental exposure will be tracked. It will develop a large pull of data, which can be use to check the effectiveness of a drug (InformationWeek 2017). It can also be used for small trials as well. For example, a company can select 100 people from a specific group to study their response towards a specific drug. Therapy Choice (NCI-Match) Trial It is an initiative taken in cancer research program NCI-Match. 1000 people with different types of tumors are enrolled in this program. Different medicines are tested on them to find out different Reponses. It helped to develop a database of drugs that have positive effect on different types of tumors. In future, this data can help to develop best personalized care for people suffering from fatal types of cancer (InformationWeek 2017). There are many other programs developed to study the effect of different medicines on different people. For example wisdom study enrolled 100,000 women to find whether mammograms are the best way to detect breast cancer or not (InformationWeek 2017). There is also another project named Dream Team. This team used faster computers to sequence more than 3 million pairs of DNA to cure skin cancer. In future, all these large data pools can be used to check effectiveness of medicines in different group of people. But he follows them in â€Å"his own minds making†. As much as Feliks Skrzynecki integrates himself into society he does not have a sense of belonging. Feliks Skrzynecki doesn’t have the proper attributes to integrate and belong into society. There are certain barriers that stop him from integrating into society. Feliks does not speak English shown through the quote â€Å" Did your father even attempt to learn English? † said by the department clerk this a clear rejection by society of Feliks Skrzynecki due to the language barrier of him not knowing English Feliks Skrzynecki is form Poland when with his Polish friends he has a strong sense of belonging with his culture of Poland. Feliks Skrzynecki has integrated his polish culture with Australian culture to give himself a sense of belonging. The poem gives a strong sense of not belonging but in the case of Feliks Skrzynecki he chooses not to learn English and instead integrates him own culture. Integration corresponds to the movie Remember the Titans made it 2000. The whole idea of the movie is based on integration. The movie is bade on the integration of the schools a black and white one and their football teams. The integration makes them belong to same thing special in their time, to a certain culture of an integrated Black and white team. Feliks Skrzynecki try’s to integrate him but cannot do so because of the language barriers. This is the same in Remember the Titans, they try to integrate themselves into one team but can no due to the hate between the coaches and players as shown â€Å" I am not playing for no black coach† said by one of them players. It is coach Boone who creates a culture in the team where black or white doesn’t matter â€Å"doesn’t matter what colour black or white the best player will play† this said by coach Boone created the a integrated team culture. The Rest of the world hates this sense of the Black and white team and everyone is against them but coach creates this culture in the football to make them a team. Feliks Skrzynecki creates his own culture of Polish people just like the movie creates its own football team cause they don’t belong shown through the quote â€Å"His Polish Friends† Showing that they would come over giving him a sense of belonging. As Feliks Skrzynecki chooses not to belong to the Australian culture cause he doesn’t want to learn English in the movie ray chooses not to integrate him into the culture of the team by not protecting the blacks in the football game and he rejected or kick out of the team as Feliks was rejected. The idea of integration is an intrinsic aspect of out lives because we may integrate into society to belong integration is main aspect of belonging. Skrzynecki engages us to relate in our lives and to think are we integrated into society? It also makes us think if we belong or not belong and if we don’t belong is it our choice or is there just no we can belong due to a barrier such as language. Skrzynecki engages us to think about how we belong and if it is vital for us to belong or do we want to belong to our own culture.
